AS: I would like to be a perceived as a person with highest integrity and be held in high esteem by people who interact with me. I would like to traverse the journey of life with head held high in all spheres of life.

Q: Describe your journey at Atlas Copco

AS: It has been a long journey in Atlas Copco. I started my career in Atlas Copco India back in August 1992 when I joined the company as a management trainee. After that I have held various roles like Sales Engineer, Product Manager, and Regional Manager.
I am now working as Business Line Manager of Underground Rock Excavation, part of Mining and Rock Excavation Business Area. During my career in Atlas Copco, I have lived in various places across India. Starting from Kolkata followed by Udaipur, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata and now in Pune.

The experience, of handling various roles and also having a chance of meeting various people with varied cultural background in the country, has enriched me and I am confident in working in any part of the globe.

Amongst various roles that I have handled, I still cherish my stint as Regional Manager, 3 years in erstwhile Southern Region (I was the last Regional Mananger of combined Southern Region before it split into Chennai and Hyderabad Regions) and 3 years in Kolkata Region

The role of Regional Manager has helped me to grow as a ‘Manager’ where I have not only honed my skills of customer and KPI management but it also gave me an opportunity to learn people management and leadership skills.

I am indebted to Atlas Copco Management to have given me chances of various roles and places, which have been both fulfilling and thrilling.

Q: What would be the high point of a perfect work day?

A perfect day is the one when you have achieved your goals/target of the day to utmost satisfaction.

Q: Describe a proud, if not proudest moment while working at Atlas Copco.

I have been working in the company since last 24 years and experienced many highs.
However my proudest moment in Atlas Copco remains when I was adjudged the ‘Best Sales Engineer’ back in 1993.
I had joined Atlas Copco in August 1992 and bingo next year I was adjudged the ‘Best Sales Engineer’ for the then CMT division. I still have the certificate duly preserved in my personal file and the watch that I received as an award is a treasured keep.

Q: If you could choose any alternative career what would it be?

I would either run an eatery or start an event management company.
I am a foodie and would like to give pleasure to people with new and innovative cuisines. I also feel that I have a flair in organizing events and would like to get myself engaged on a professional level.

Q: Name three pet peeves (things that really bug you).

Dishonesty, Insincerity and lackadaisical attitude are the ones which make me very upset.

Q: What characteristic do you appreciate most in a colleague?

I am a straight forward person and appreciate the same quality in my colleagues. I always like to work with people who have the courage to call a ‘spade’ a ‘spade’.

Q: Of the Group values of Interaction, Commitment and Innovation, which is your favorite, and why?

Commitment is the one which is close to my heart.

I always feel that commitment to your company, customers and your near and dear ones, should always be at the top of mind and nothing should deter anyone deviating from the principle of ‘commitment’

In this connection I quote the following inspiring lines from the poem ‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’ by Robert Frost

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep”
