Atlas Copco announces expansion, unveils new compressors


Pune, October 3, 2016: Atlas Copco, a world-leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions --today announced it is doubling the capacity of its manufacturing plant in Hyderabad and launching three new locally produced compressor products to further improve service to the Indian market.

Atlas Copco will invest  70 crore to double the manufacturing capacity at its new Hyderabad plant. The expansion will be completed by year-end and the plant will be fully operational by March 2017. The project will set up a world-class R&D test centre for the company’s rock drilling products, enabling Atlas Copco to truly help its Indian customers increase their productivity. Atlas Copco is designing in India to meet the specific needs of its local customers, who represent virtually all aspects of the Indian economy. The expansion at the plant will generate employment for about 35 people.

In the coming months, the Hyderabad plant is scheduled to introduce new products such as rotary products for oil and gas application, products for hard metal mining, and innovative deep hole drilling machine to cater to Indian and African markets.

In a separate development, Atlas Copco President & CEO Ronnie Leten announced the launch of three new locally produced compressors Electric Portable Compressor, XRHS65 Compressor, and VSD+ ranging from 7 kW to 37 kW.

Domestic production of these compressors will lead to quick and reliable delivery, further assisting Atlas Copco’s many customers in India.

The compressors come with a host of new features, such as 50 per cent energy savings, revolutionary technology with a vertical built drive train, 55 per cent lower carbon footprint, condensate prevention cycle, oil cooled motor and minimum noise levels.

Earlier this year, Atlas Copco launched its 50th Drill Jumbo L2D, for the Indian market, manufactured at its Nashik plant, which was used for one of the prestigious tunneling projects in the country. It was a milestone to manufacture this range in India, which showcases Atlas Copco’s efforts to localise its Indian manufacturing.
